About The Position

Gibraltar is seeking a skilled Slitter Operator to operate and monitor a production line, inspect metal measurements, and perform equipment setup and adjustments. The position is full-time, located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and works first shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The operator works from drawings, work orders, specifications, instructions, and established procedures; handles materials with powered equipment; reports production and equipment issues; and maintains a safe, neat workplace.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of slitter operator experience.
• Forklift experience.
• Strong mathematical ability, including working with fractions and decimals.
• Ability to read and interpret charts, specifications, and production schedules.
• Experience using micrometers and calipers.
• Solid computer skills, specifically Oracle.
• Detail-oriented nature.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe work environment.
• Use micrometers and calipers to check metal gage and roll diameters.
• Use computer-controlled equipment to monitor and operate the line.
• Work from drawings, work orders, specifications, instructions, and established methods and procedures.
• Use material handling equipment, including powered forklift trucks.
• Set up separator blades to ensure proper metal fan-out and eliminate rolled edges.
• Interpret drawings and specifications to plan setups.
• Make equipment repairs and adjustments, referring major repairs to maintenance personnel.
• Detect and report faulty operation, defective material or equipment, and unusual conditions to the appropriate supervisor.
• Maintain the workplace in a neat and orderly condition.
• Complete time and production reports and enter production into the system.
• Perform additional responsibilities deemed necessary by leadership.
