About The Position

Winpak Control Group Inc. is seeking a Slitter Operator for the Second shift to join their Quality department in Norwood, New Jersey. The role involves operating a master roll slitting machine to safely and efficiently convert semi-finished rolls into finished products according to customer specifications. This position is crucial for ensuring product quality, production efficiency, and adherence to safety and quality standards. Responsibilities include inspecting finished rolls, completing production documentation, maintaining equipment, and supporting continuous improvement by following established operating procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (spoken and written).
  • Ability to understand production documentation and work instructions.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to set up, adjust, and safely operate manufacturing equipment and material handling devices.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality products while accurately completing production records.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment, including standing for extended periods, handling production materials, and following all safety procedures and standard operating practices.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ year of experience operating slitting, converting, or similar manufacturing equipment in an industrial production environment.
  • Experience performing quality inspections and completing production and quality documentation.
  • Forklift and/or overhead crane certification, or the ability to obtain certification through company-provided training.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, GMP, continuous improvement practices, and basic machine troubleshooting and adjustments.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the master roll slitting machine safely and efficiently while meeting established production, quality, and machine performance standards.
  • Review production schedules, work orders, and manufacturing documentation to prepare and execute production runs according to customer specifications.
  • Set up, adjust, and monitor machine settings, including cutting widths and multiple slit configurations, performing test runs and fine adjustments as needed.
  • Complete production records, inspection reports, and verification documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Inspect semi-finished and finished rolls to ensure compliance with quality standards, including cutting accuracy, winding quality, hardness, roll direction, and proper identification.
  • Segregate non-conforming material for rework according to established procedures and ensure finished products are properly stored and labeled.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance, including cleaning the slitter, maintaining and replacing knife blades, and ensuring equipment remains in good working condition.
  • Safely operate overhead cranes, lifting devices, and other material handling equipment to transport materials and finished products.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while strictly following all health, safety, quality, food safety, and company operating procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Promptly report equipment issues, quality concerns, safety hazards, or operational abnormalities to the supervisor and actively support continuous improvement initiatives.
