About The Position

This position is responsible for ensuring the Slicer runs as efficiently as possible while meeting all company safety, quality, and productivity requirements. It is expected that good safety and quality assurance implication practices are always followed. This role is for team members currently working at this facility or complex only. Team members interested in transferring into this position from another Tyson facility should express interest through their local HR Partner.

Requirements

  • Must not have a written warning or a suspension in the last 1 year.
  • Must be in current role for 6 months (180 days) unless position is a promotion.
  • Must have 4 attendance points or less.
  • Must be willing and able to walk, push and/or pull and lift up to 61.5 pounds.
  • Must be willing and able to frequently lift and/or move up to 58.5 pounds.
  • The Team Member will stand and use both hands to work with equipment and product.
  • The Team Member will use specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The Team Member is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, sanitizing chemical, and extreme cold.
  • The Team Member will work in an environment where the noise level is usually loud.
  • The Team Member may be required to wear smock, safety glasses, hairnet, beard net, apron, boots, coat (supplied by TM), sleeves, guards, gloves, face mask, shield, ear protection, cut resistant gloves, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Proficiency in reading and writing; ability to complete on-the-job paperwork and effectively communicate across all management levels.
  • Able to read job ticket / process order; familiar with species changes and specialty products.
  • Ensure that the correct meat type and variety is being processed on the line.
  • Perform setup, clean, and sanitize the Slicer and conveyors as required. Full washdown using Water and Sanitizer. Use two people to lift and lower the conveyor belt.
  • Manually load the logs into the Slicer.
  • Keep an accurate record of the Handling Units (HU’s) used to each process order.
  • Operate Slicer parameters and manual scale.
  • Maintain the quality of the stacks or bunches by making approved adjustments.
  • Set-up and teardown the Slicer throughout the shift as required.
  • Weigh at least 4 stacks or bunches per log as required to ensure the weights of the stacks are within the required procedures.
  • Place rework uneven #2 and #3 product in the appropriate white tubs.
  • Perform a visual check on the Slicer and conveyors.
  • Report any safety, food safety, or mechanical issues to line Operator and Supervisor.
  • Immediately notify appropriate personnel of any Safety, Food Safety, or Quality concerns identified through daily tasks.
  • To perform all work duties safely, as well as maintain and promote the Tyson safety culture.
  • Receive training as required.
  • Read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  • Add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations uses units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Perform other duties/positions as required/assigned.
