About The Position

Conducts nocturnal and diurnal sleep studies for children, adults, and geriatric patients. Studies include monitoring EEG, EOG, EKG, EMG, nasal and oral ventilation, chest excursion, and pulse oximetry. The technologist may perform CPAP and BiPAP titrations and assist with scoring sleep studies and interpreting polygraphic recordings. The position may involve travel to host facilities within the twin tiers and may require call coverage for Neurodiagnostics EEG. Employees based in Sayre may be required to take call and may need to travel to other locations to conduct sleep studies. The role requires applying EEG electrodes using the standard 10-20 system and monitoring devices for respiration, muscle tone, eye movement, oximetry, EKG, and other physiological functions. The technologist calibrates, adjusts, and troubleshoots laboratory equipment; produces artifact-free polysomnographic data; scores sleep stages and related events; and monitors patient response to CPAP to establish appropriate airway pressures. The role also includes maintaining equipment and records, keeping current on sleep-disorder literature and techniques, assisting with new employee orientation, and maintaining positive relationships with host institutions.
