The Sleep Lab is seeking a Sleep Technician to ensure proper patient care by performing polysomnographic testing, clerical and clinic duties, and other assigned tasks. This role involves performing age-specific studies with a focus on safety and care for each age group, demonstrating effective communication, empathy, and positive customer relations. The technician will also be responsible for equipment maintenance, disinfection, sterilization, and assembly, as well as participating in performance improvement initiatives. The position requires adherence to HMA’s Compliance and Ethics Program and involves 12-hour night shifts.

Requirements

  • LIC-Registered Polysomnographic Technologist - Tennessee
  • Relevant Work Experience
  • Less than 1 year of experience
  • High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

  • Independently prepare patients for the study, conduct routine PSG recordings, and collect all information pertinent to the interpretation of these tests.
  • Performs age specific studies, demonstrating safety and care for each age group.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills, empathy, and unconditional positive regard toward all patients and co-workers.
  • Establishes measurable yearly goals and objectives.
  • Adheres to, and promotes positive customer relations.
  • Compliance with organizational requirements, including policies, procedures and regulations specific to the department.
  • Mechanism must be provided for the contact of the employee (i.e. beeper, telephone, emergency contact).
  • Participates in performance improvement to improve patient outcomes, as requested.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of all equipment and provides preventative maintenance, disinfection, sterilization, and assembly of equipment effectively, as required.
  • Performs age specific studies, demonstrating awareness of safety and care for each age group. This includes the importance of individual and family education, knowledge of routine and emergency procedures.
  • Able to effectively perform patient handling procedures to ensure patient safety as well as employee safety.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to HMA’s Compliance and Ethics Program.
