Sleep technology is a high demand field with an importance that goes well beyond the screen of a monitor. Sleep technologists run the advanced diagnostics that keep patients breathing safely through the night, uncovering hidden sleep disorders before they turn into critical medical emergencies. The Sleep Tech Trainee Program at University Hospitals is an AASM-accredited A-STEP Introductory program which offers a combination of classroom-based education, and hands on training, to gain the knowledge and skills needed to become a Sleep Tech. Placement assignments will vary, and occasional travel may be required through the UH system. Preferences for placement are considered but not guaranteed. Placement locations include Cleveland Medical Center, Beachwood Medical Center, Elyria Medical Center St. John's Medical Center, Parma Medical Center, and Samaritan. Shifts may vary; however most opportunities include a combination of Evenings and/or Nights. Classroom training will occur during first shift, with evenings/nights requirements starting after the classroom portion of the training is complete.
