About The Position

The UVMMC Sleep Program is looking for eager and engaged applicants who would like to start a career in Sleep Medicine. A sleep technician performs comprehensive sleep testing and analysis, and associated interventions under the general supervision of a senior sleep technologist and/or the medical director. The Sleep Technician Trainee role is the first step towards this career. Once completing the orientation period, Trainee will be eligible to be promoted to a Sleep Technologist I. The PSG Technician Trainee is supervised during the training period with the completion of electrodiagnostic and polysomnographic testing including, but not limited to, EEG, portables, CPAP titration, etc. as ordered by physicians according to established protocols and national ASET & APT guidelines. At approved points in their training, the technician may begin to perform the tests independently. The PSG Tech I position is an acquisition technologist that performs sleep studies on all age groups and appropriately scores records per AASM guidelines.

Requirements

  • Associates of Science degree and/or 3-5 years of directly relevant patient care experience required.
  • Associate's degree, preferably in a science field and/or successful completion of a CAAHEP-accredited Sleep Technology Program, although a bachelor degree is preferred, and/or 3-5 years of health care experience in a direct care position.
  • Excellent skills in sleep study scoring, data acquisition, troubleshooting, bedside manners, mask fittings, and patient education.

Responsibilities
