Requirements

  • Maintain current Idaho licensure, Federal DEA and IBOP certifications.
  • Complete adequate CME as required by licensure.
  • Maintain current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
  • At least two years of experience working independently in a primary care, urgent care, or emergency care setting evaluating and treating a broad range of patients, in terms of age (infants to elderly), medically compliant (infectious disease, cardiac, orthopedic, etc.) and acuity level (routine, urgent and emergent).
  • Routine physical assessment tools
  • Communicate well with staff, patients, family members, and consultants.
  • Basic math skills necessary to calculate medication dosages, etc.
  • High level of diagnostic thinking, often rapid.
  • Must be able to perform multi-tasking with frequent interruptions.
  • Must be capable of on-the-spot problem-solving.
  • Strong knowledge of up-to-date clinical information.
  • Must be flexible.
  • Ability to inspire staff to tackle challenging work.
  • Ability to recognize, understand and address the needs of patients and family members on multiple levels.
  • Ability to communicate well and inspire trust when encountering individuals of all cultures, levels of education and walks of life.
  • Ability to project a feeling of caring and concern to others.
  • Must be able to work efficiently and comply with daily demands.
  • Works well under pressure and able to meet multiple and competing deadlines.
  • Able to work as part of a team of clinical providers who share responsibility for the patients’ well-being and the clinics’ operations.
  • Understands the requirements of being a department of a hospital and complies with that level of quality.

Responsibilities

  • Perform full spectrum of sleep medicine care including history collection, evaluation of patient, relevant physical assessment, diagnosis of sleep conditions, plan of care, full management of therapy.
  • For sleep apnea, review and educate patient on results of home and in-lab diagnostic and titration studies.
  • Order or recommend appropriate therapy/equipment. Make appropriate referrals.
  • Evaluate data on PAP download and make adjustments to therapy as needed and evaluate response to intervention.
  • Prescribe and evaluate response to medications relating to night sleep and daytime alertness.
  • Document all aspects of care provided.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to staff members as indicated.
  • Precept midlevel students as requested.
  • Maintain accurate count of all controlled substances within the office.
  • Manage the patient’s care in a timely manner and maintain a level of productivity that is equivalent to the other providers on staff.
