The Slasher Size Prep role involves a variety of tasks centered around preparing materials and assisting the Slasher Operator in a manufacturing environment. Key responsibilities include transferring warps and loom beams using specialized equipment like warp pan trucks and hoists, positioning section beams, and conducting visual inspections of the process. The individual will assist the slasher operator in threading warp through various machine components and inserting lease rods. A significant part of the role involves preparing the 'size' mixture by weighing, mixing, and cooking it according to formula, and controlling its flow to the slasher machine. The position also requires completing hoist checklists for safety, performing housekeeping duties, and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions in collaboration with the operator or by notifying maintenance. The Slasher Size Prep is expected to move direct beams and stage styles, work with the operator to 'strike the set', and may be required to fill in for the Slasher Operator. This is a full-time position that may require weekend and overtime work, and it demands significant physical activity including prolonged standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing. The work environment exposes the employee to noise, dust, chemicals, and moving parts, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment.
