About The Position

The Slasher Operator will work with an assistant, under the direct supervision of the shift support and in full cooperation with all associates. This role is responsible for the overall operation of the Slasher, including performing set up procedures at creel run out, loading sections and setting into creel, maintaining correct speed and tension on the slasher, observing the front of the slasher for breaks, lost ends or yard defects, stopping the machine to repair breaks and glue lost ends, maintaining selvages of warp, and completing necessary paperwork. The operator is also responsible for maintaining general housekeeping of the area. JPS Composite Materials (JPS) is a manufacturer of high-performance fabrics servicing the aerospace, military, commercial, and industrial markets. The company's materials are found in a multitude of composite matrix applications including commercial aircraft interiors, radomes for commercial and military aircraft, ballistic applications for military vests and vehicles, and electronic applications including automobile sensors and telecommunication antenna. JPS has over 60 years of experience and is the primary supplier of these products in North America. The corporate headquarters are in Anderson, SC, with manufacturing facilities located in North and South Carolina.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years machine operating experience
  • Basic math abilities for calculating materials needed
  • General computer knowledge
  • Able to use material handling equipment (hoist, hand jack)
  • Must be able to work in a tight, confined area without damaging yarn

Responsibilities

  • Perform set up procedures at creel run out
  • Load section and set into creel
  • Maintain correct speed and tension on slasher
  • Observe front of slasher of breaks, lost ends or yard defects
  • Stop machine repair breaks and glue lost ends
  • Maintain selvages of warp
  • Complete necessary paperwork, as required
  • Maintain general housekeeping of area
  • Warp supplier for weave and entering processes
  • Mixing sizes according to formulas
  • Set machines, make adjustments, and monitor the process
  • Transport, doff, lease, and start new beams
  • TPM and cleaning of all machines
  • Maintain all records according to ISO AS9100 standards
