The Structured Learning Assistance (SLA) Facilitator reports directly to the Director and supports courses identified as high-risk for failure by working collaboratively with faculty and students to promote academic success. The facilitator leads regularly scheduled workshops (up to 1 hour and 15 minutes per session) that reinforce course concepts, encourage active and collaborative learning, and help students successfully complete coursework. Responsibilities may include attending class sessions, communicating with instructors, tracking attendance and student progress, and developing engaging, course-specific learning activities. The SLA Facilitator serves as a mentor and academic resource, helping students build confidence, strengthen study strategies, and develop independent learning skills. The SLA Facilitator provides supplemental academic support through tutoring activities designed to reinforce course concepts and aid student mastery of course content. This position supports, but does not replace, instructional faculty. This position is not eligible for remote work. All compensated work must be performed from an approved university location. The position may include virtual delivery of SLA facilitation to students; however, virtual delivery must occur while the student employee is physically working from an approved university location. Student employees in this role are not instructors and may not perform duties reserved for instructional faculty, including creating or revising syllabi, designing or assigning graded coursework, assessing learning for grades, grading student work, managing Canvas or other LMS course functions, delivering required instruction on behalf of faculty, substituting for faculty, making course policy decisions, or completing compensated work already assigned to instructional faculty. The role is limited to supplemental academic support, facilitation of learning activities, and student-success support.
