About The Position

Under general supervision, the main duty of the SkyCam Pilot is to ensure the safe and effective operation of the SkyCam system through sound processes and operations and effective communication between the Technical Operations manager and Sky-NOC. The SkyCam Pilot acts as the on-site manager for flight equipment and crew at an event, following and operating the SkyCam system within established safe protocols and procedures. This role interfaces directly with the client, EIC, and Technical Operations Manager to ensure safe and proper installation. The pilot is capable of flying and orienting the SkyCam system for camera operators during live events and is familiar with the operation of all necessary tools and parts to assemble and rig the system. They work under the direction of the NOC & Technical Operations Manager regarding system deployment and maintenance, communicating all technical needs and irregular operations to the onsite EIC, NOC, and TOM. The pilot provides a final report on all live events, documents all deployments as required, attends camera meetings, and represents safe capabilities. Responsibilities on client job sites include equipment setup and operation, interfacing with client and venue personnel, safe operation of equipment (considering weather, equipment breakdowns, etc.), completing tech reports for each job, reporting equipment issues and recommendations to the CTO, providing updates to site surveys, and ensuring all safety schedules and protocols are followed. Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • One (1) year of progressively responsible experience in aircraft operation and control, drone operation and control, and/or a strong background preferably in media, broadcasting, technical, IT, engineering, or production industry.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Windows and an understanding of basic electronics and networking is a must.
  • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.
  • Extensive domestic and international travel; must possess or able to obtain US Passport.

Nice To Haves

  • FAA Private pilots (PPL), or FAA 107 license strongly encouraged to apply
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (AS or Technical School acceptable).
  • Electrically and mechanically inclined, proficient with hand tools and electrical test equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Possesses good analytical and creative skills.
  • Strong communications skills and eagerness to collaborate with different people.
  • Comfort with working in a rapidly changing environment and open to innovative ideas.

Responsibilities
