The Skills Trainer-In Home Services role involves building rapport with clients (children and adolescents), providing daily support, structure, activities, group, and safety. They will provide skills training to clients to help them learn to manage their mental health symptoms in the school and will sometimes include homes and the community at large. The role also involves modeling, coaching, and counseling clients regarding appropriate hygiene, and social and interpersonal interactions. The Skills Trainer acts as a liaison between school systems and facilitates the integration of the client’s treatment goals within school/community settings. A valid Oregon driver's license that meets agency driving requirements and the ability to meet clients and families in the community is required. QMHA minimum qualification must be met.

Requirements

  • Meets QMHA minimum qualification
  • Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral sciences field; or
  • A combination of at least three years relevant work, education, training or experience
  • Demonstrate the competency necessary to communicate effectively
  • Understand mental health assessment, treatment and service terminology and apply these concepts
  • Provide psychosocial skills development
  • Implement interventions as assigned on an individual plan of care
  • Provide behavior management and case management duties.
  • Valid Oregon driver's license that meets agency driving requirements
  • Ability to meet client and families in the community
