As a Skills Development Specialist, you will have an incredible opportunity to engage with a youth in one-on-one activities within the community that are safe, enjoyable, and perfectly aligned with the goals set by the youth and family team. A quality Skills Development Specialist serves as an understanding and trusted coach, confidant, adviser, and advocate. This service is pivotal in guiding youth towards personal growth, development, and social and economic advancement. Lad Lake is seeking quality applicants to meet the critical needs of children in various SE Wisconsin counties. This community-based position involves working with a child in your surrounding area. We serve several counties, including Washington, Waukesha, Ozaukee, Dodge, Walworth, Milwaukee, and Jefferson. You will engage in weekly activities with your client to achieve specific goals that typically last 1-3 hours. This part-time paid position includes travel and expense allocations. Weekly hours depend on the number of cases you choose to work with. Typically, evening and weekend hours are required.

Requirements

  • You must be 21 or older.
  • Must show proof of degrees, certifications, and specific skills
  • Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Must show proof of 100,000/300,000 Bodily Injury Auto Liability Insurance and 100,000 Property Damage Auto Liability Insurance.
  • Must have good communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Model behavior and act as a role model.
  • Provide quality activities that align with client’s goals
  • Build trust through commitment and consistency.
  • Encourage the child to reach their full potential.
  • Maintain open communication with families, supervisors, and county staff
  • Attend Plan of Care meetings and monthly supervision as required
  • Enter case notes for each meeting
  • Report any criminal activity, abuse, or unusual happenings to your immediate supervisor/county crisis line
  • Meet Lad Lake training requirements
