About The Position

Charter Manufacturing is seeking a Skilled Second Shift Operator for their Cold Forming Department at the 81st Street facility in Milwaukee, WI. This role involves operating multiple high-powered machines in a fast-paced, detail-oriented production environment. The company is a fourth-generation, family-owned business focused on growth and quality.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (company will pay for GED program if needed).
  • One year of related experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment that requires mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work safely.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, use of fine motor skills, reaching and lifting 30 lbs.; periodically may be to lift as much as 50 lbs.
  • Occasional foot use, carrying, push/pulling, climbing, below the waist work, balancing, and forceful motion.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • Safely operate a forklift truck.
  • Independently use quality measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, attribute gauges, etc.).
  • Navigate and enter data in Charter’s statistical process control (SPC) system.
  • Read and interpret blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring multiple machines run smoothly and produce parts that meet very high customer quality requirements.
  • Performing inspections and basic troubleshooting.
  • Partnering with Quality and Maintenance to ensure machines are running efficiently.
  • Changing coils and tooling.
  • Performing basic troubleshooting.
  • Maintaining and operating multiple pieces of production equipment.
  • Moving material, product, and supplies and transacting material movements.
  • Performing preventative maintenance.
  • Maintaining an organized and clean work area (sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, painting, basic janitorial, restocking supplies, etc.).
  • Completing quality control paperwork and identifying acceptable products.
