About The Position

The City of Fullerton is seeking a Skilled Maintenance Worker - Water to perform skilled and general duties involved in the maintenance, repair, and construction of City water and sewer system components. This role includes working with water pumps, meters, wells, motors, disinfecting facilities, reservoirs, and tanks. The position offers a collaborative environment with the opportunity to make a direct impact on essential community services.

Requirements

Graduation from high school.
Two (2) years of increasingly responsible water facility maintenance or water facility repair/construction experience including some experience in one of the building trades.
Experience with water and sewer system maintenance, repair, and construction.
Understanding of traffic control procedures and work zone safety practices.
Knowledge of safe operation of hand, power, and specialized equipment.
Valid Class A California Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
Enrollment in the Department of Motor Vehicles Government Pull Notice Program.
Tankers Endorsement for Vactor Trucks.
Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate City needs to include shift work, overtime and emergency callback.
Possession of a D1 Water Distribution Operator Certificate prior to completion of probation and maintenance of this certificate throughout employment (for Water I).
Possession of a D3 Water Distribution Operator Certificate prior to completion of probation and maintenance of this certificate throughout employment (for Water II).
Must take and subscribe to the oath or affirmation as a disaster service worker.
