About The Position

As part of the Department of Public Works, the City of Humboldt is currently seeking to fill one (1) permanent, full-time Skilled Labourer position. Skilled Labourers shall be able to operate the City’s basic equipment and tools, participate in water and sewer excavations, road construction and repair activities, and all other general duties assigned. Desired skills include basic carpentry and mechanical principles, knowledge of safety practices and procedures, have good decision-making abilities, the ability to remain calm during stressful situations, and possess strong communication skills. Must be able to work in a team setting and alone or with minimal supervision. This role requires participation in an on-call rotation with timely on-site response when needed. As a result, preference will be given to local candidates or those open to relocating to Humboldt.

Requirements

• Completion of Grade 12 or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D)
• Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s License
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
• Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
• Ability to work in a team setting and alone or with minimal supervision
• Basic carpentry and mechanical principles
• Knowledge of safety practices and procedures
• Good decision-making abilities
• Ability to remain calm during stressful situations
• Strong communication skills
