About The Position

As a Skilled Labourer (Mass Timber), you will support the installation and assembly of prefabricated wood structures, taking on a variety of labour and skilled construction tasks such as material handling, layout, rigging support, basic carpentry, and site preparation. You will work with specialized tools and equipment to install mass timber components safely and accurately, assist with craning and placement activities, and help maintain a clean and organized site. You will also support apprentices and carpenters, while contributing to problem-solving and continuous improvement on site.

Requirements

  • Experience in the construction industry, or equivalent combination of training and experience preferred.
  • A solid understanding of construction processes and the ability to, with minimal direction, complete their assigned tasks on the project and even direct others is an asset.
  • Being physically capable of meeting the job demands, including working on your feet for 8 hours or more, lifting objects weighing up to 55lbs, and carrying out physical tasks over extended periods.

  • Basic carpentry skills are an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the installation and assembly of prefabricated mass timber components (CLT, glulam), including staging, layout, and preparation.
  • Receiving, unloading, and carefully handling deliveries of mass timber materials to prevent damage.
  • Assisting with rigging and guiding panels and structural elements during crane picks and placement
  • Preparing work areas in advance to support efficient installation activities.
  • Performing basic carpentry tasks related to mass timber installation, including fitting, fastening, and minor modifications.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized site by removing debris and properly sorting materials and recyclables.
  • Operating and maintaining tools and equipment required for installation and coordinating repairs or replacements as needed.
  • Assisting with scaffold setup and ensuring safe access for installation work.
  • Supporting site logistics, including material movement and coordination with other trades.
  • Providing direction and support to labourers and apprentices as required by the supervisor.
  • Completing field-level hazard assessments prior to starting tasks and adhering to all site safety protocols.
  • Reporting any injuries, hazards, or unsafe conditions to the supervisor or Site HSE Coordinator immediately.
  • Assisting the site team with additional labour and carpentry duties as needed to support project progress.
