About The Position

This position is responsible for semi-skilled work in a variety of janitorial, landscaping, and repair assignments involving the use of specialized tools and equipment within the city’s water and wastewater treatment divisions. The employee may be required to respond to a disaster, either natural or man-made, to serve the citizens of Statesville and meet the needs of the organization, which may result in the assignment of other duties and take precedence over duties described in this job description. Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• One (1) year of experience in janitorial, landscaping, and light maintenance duties.
• Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license, or any valid driver’s license with ability to obtain a North Carolina driver’s license within 60 days of establishing a permanent residence in North Carolina.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of manual work in connection with the landscaping, light maintenance, and janitorial needs within the water and wastewater treatment divisions.
• Operates front end deck mowers, zero turn mowers, turf tractors, and other power equipment.
• Mows areas around the facility, tank sites, pump stations, and other appurtenances of water or wastewater plants.
• Assists operations and maintenance teams as needed for repairs and operations of departmental duties.
• Performs ground and building maintenance as well as landscaping duties on a regular basis.
• Performs janitorial work and general cleaning on a frequent basis.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
