About The Position

Western Specialty Contractors is seeking self-motivated individuals to serve as Skilled Laborers at their San Antonio branch. This role is part of the branch production team and is responsible for performing work within a specific area according to generally accepted standards. The position involves tasks such as hand patching, pouring and finishing concrete, chipping out concrete, hauling debris, lifting heavy objects, working at heights, and cutting out and applying sealant. Experienced skilled laborers are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

• Experience in a trade or craft is preferred.
• Sufficient reading, writing, and math skills to comprehend and explain company safety policies and material instructions.
• Comfortable working at heights.
• Comfortable working outdoors in high temperatures.
• Ability to use logical step-by-step procedures in working with different materials using a variety of skills.
• Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
• Ability to judge straight lines, spaces, and proportions.
• Ability to read drawings.
• Ability to identify existing and predictable hazards in work surroundings, including working conditions that are unsanitary, hazardous, or dangerous.
• Ability to stand or walk for long periods.
• Ability to lift and carry materials weighing 50 pounds or more.
• Ability to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolds, and other objects and carry tools and equipment.
• Ability to see well (either naturally or with correction).
• Ability to wear company’s safety equipment.
• Practical construction experience preferred.
• Must have own “hand tools of the trade.”
• May be required to work weekends, nights, and out of town.
• Must have reliable transportation.
