About The Position

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform a variety of construction, maintenance, and repair work on District facilities, grounds, building facilities, and equipment.

Requirements

Graduation from high school
Two years experience in general construction, maintenance and repair work
Valid California Driver’s License
Employment eligibility will include fingerprints, tuberculosis and/or other employment clearance
Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures governing workscope
Knowledge of Safety and Health Protection on the Job (OSHA Regulations)
Knowledge of safe working methods and procedures
Knowledge of common tools, materials, equipment, and terminology used in the general maintenance trades
Ability to properly use and operate tools and equipment common to the maintenance trade
Ability to interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures governing workscope
Ability to communicate effectively in English orally and in writing
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
Ability to meet schedules and timelines
Ability to maintain routine records
Ability to complete work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
Ability to observe all legal and District defensive driving practices

Responsibilities

Assist buildings and grounds personnel in the daily activities of the department and special projects.
Assist buildings and grounds trades in the repair or renovation of District buildings, facilities, and equipment.
Load and unload supplies; lift and move heavy objects; lift and carry stone, gravel, dirt, asphalt, lumber, and other materials as directed.
Load and unload school and construction equipment such as scaffolding, portable stages, machinery, and furniture.
Drive a District vehicle to transport trash, dirt, building supplies, materials, and equipment.
Assist in anchoring and securing computers, monitors, copiers, microwave ovens, refrigerators, other equipment, and machinery as required.
Assist in the repair of cafeteria tables, benches, service carts, and other related equipment.
Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools and equipment.
Clean culverts, drains, and ditches and remove undergrowth.
Assist in swimming pool maintenance, as directed.
Change heating, ventilation, and air conditioner (HVAC) filters.
Work with all District employees, architecture and engineering employees, and outside contractors.
Perform related duties as assigned.
