About The Position

Western Specialty Contractors is seeking self-motivated individuals to serve as Skilled Laborers at our Corpus Christi branch. As a member of the branch production team, you will be responsible for performing work in accordance with generally accepted standards of the crafts. This role involves tasks such as hand patching, pouring and finishing concrete, chipping out concrete, hauling debris, lifting heavy objects, and working at heights. Finish Caulkers will cut out sealant and apply new sealant with high quality. Experienced skilled laborers are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

• Experience in a trade or craft is preferred
• Sufficient reading, writing and math skills to comprehend and explain company safety policies and material instruction
• Comfortable working at heights
• Comfortable working outdoors in high temperatures
• Ability to use logical step-by-step procedures in working with different materials using a variety of skills
• Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy and judge straight lines, spaces and proportions
• Ability to read drawings
• Identify existing and predictable hazards in work surroundings, including working conditions that are unsanitary, hazardous or dangerous to employees
• Ability to stand or walk for long periods
• Ability to lift and carry materials weighing 50 pounds or more
• Ability to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolds and other objects and carry tools and equipment
• Ability to see well (either naturally or with correction)
• Ability to work at heights and at extreme temperatures
• Wear company’s safety equipment
• Practical construction experience preferred
• Must have own “hand tools of the trade.”
• May be required to work weekends, nights, and out of town
• Must have reliable transportation
