About The Position

The SkillBridge Program at Brooks Building Solutions is designed for transitioning military service members, offering foundational training in Building Automation Systems (BAS), commercial HVAC, and building technology. This program aims to help participants explore career paths within the skilled trades, building technology, project management, and construction, leveraging their existing military skills. Participants will begin with BAS training, learning the fundamentals of commercial building operations and how various systems interact. The program provides opportunities to discover potential career roles based on individual strengths, interests, and long-term goals.

Requirements

  • You do not need previous HVAC or BAS experience to participate in the SkillBridge program.
  • Existing military skills and experience can provide a strong foundation, including areas such as Electrical or mechanical systems, Electronics and communications, Equipment maintenance and operations, Engineering or technical systems, Aviation or vehicle maintenance, Construction or facilities operations, Information technology or networking, Logistics and supply chain, Project coordination, Quality control and inspections, Technical documentation, Troubleshooting and problem-solving, Team leadership and supervision, Mission planning and execution, Safety and compliance, Working with tools, equipment, and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Learn the fundamentals of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and commercial HVAC.
  • Develop an understanding of how HVAC equipment, controls, sensors, and building systems work together.
  • Gain exposure to BAS installation, programming, troubleshooting, testing, and service.
  • Learn to interpret basic drawings, diagrams, system layouts, and technical documentation.
  • Develop an understanding of low-voltage systems and building technology.
  • Participate in hands-on training and real-world learning opportunities.
  • Work alongside experienced professionals and gain exposure to different roles within the industry.
  • Apply existing military skills and experience to a commercial building environment.
  • Explore potential career paths based on strengths, interests, and long-term goals.
  • Follow company safety procedures and industry best practices.
  • Build the technical and professional skills needed to transition successfully into a civilian career.
