About The Position

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Skillbridge Principal / Senior Principal Mission Engineering Systems Engineer to join their team in Baltimore, MD. This is a 100% on-site position. The SkillBridge Program offers separating service members valuable civilian work experience during their last 6 months of service, up to 180 days. Participants gain hands-on experience in an entry to mid-level career path, with the potential to convert to a full-time opportunity. The program aims to provide job skills training in a professional setting, developing highly trained and capable future employees aligned with the organization's needs. Participants will receive comprehensive hands-on experience including professional development, networking with leadership, and training focused on leadership principles, company history, customer engagement, product overviews, and core job responsibilities. The program is designed to be a pipeline for motivated military candidates into Northrop Grumman.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience, a Master’s degree with 3 years of experience or a PhD with 1 year of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree (for Principal level).
• Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience, a Master’s degree with 6 years of experience or a PhD with 4 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree (for Senior Principal level).
• U.S Citizenship is required.
• A current/active U.S. Government Secret Clearance.
• Ability to obtain/maintain Special Access Program (SAP) access.
• Experience in modeling, simulation, experimentation, and analysis for operations, including the use of analytical modeling tools like MATLAB, STK, or similar environments.
• Experience with combat simulation environments such as AFSIM and/or Brawler, ensuring realistic and effective simulation outcomes.
• Experience with programming languages like Python, C/C++, as well as scripting in Linux/Windows environments, and experienced in statistics, design of experiments, and high-performance computing.
• Experience with DoD testing and acquisition principles, with hands-on experience in developmental testing, planning, and execution of weapon tests.
• Has served at least 180 days on active duty (SkillBridge Eligibility).
• Is within 12 months of separation or retirement (SkillBridge Eligibility).
• Will receive an honorable discharge (SkillBridge Eligibility).
• Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS (SkillBridge Eligibility).
• Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months (SkillBridge Eligibility).
• Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship (SkillBridge Eligibility).

Nice To Haves

• Advanced degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics or related technical fields.
• Active Top Secret Clearance or higher.
• Experience with JMP, R, or other domain specific environments supporting data exploration, visualization, and statistical analysis.
• Domain experience in simulations of RF, EOIR, Communications, or related systems.
• Understanding of the Systems Engineering and Integration & Test processes.
• Experience with Agile and/or SAFe methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Apply MS&A techniques with a focus on Mission Engineering to assess system architectures that best deliver the effects, data, and capabilities demanded by tomorrow’s missions.
• Perform analysis-of-alternatives and mission architecture trades across offensive and defensive orders of battle, formations, and equipment.
• Utilize Modeling, Simulation, Experimentation, and Analysis (MSE&A) frameworks to evaluate Concepts of Employments (CONEMPS), Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), and Design Reference Missions (DRM) to affect system design and optimization.
• Assess capabilities by linking system requirements to mission threads, proving operative interfaces and their connections that enable mission execution, verification/validation planning of system elements performing missions, and system integration functions during development.
• Plan demonstration and delivery of mission effects, data, or capabilities during operations and provide long-term sustainment and mission augmentation support over the life of systems.
• Develop large scale data analytics, probabilities, and statistics, including the application of design of experiment techniques for the evaluation of system and mission performance.
• Innovate to solve problems and identify improvements across MSE&A products.
• Perform operational analysis and mission effectiveness analysis activities.
• Develop new and/or integrate existing system simulation frameworks, performance models and algorithms, threat models and command and control models.
• Model operational environments, perform trade studies via computer simulation and recommend alternative architectures.
• Develop, integrate, and use advanced graphical user interfaces and visualization tools.
