About The Position

KBR’s Readiness and Sustainment division is the Team Behind the Mission®, delivering mission-critical services to the U.S. military and coalition partners globally, including base operations, contingency and expeditionary support, asset management, logistics, prepositioned stock, and integrated supply chain management. This SkillBridge internship will support KBR’s Indo-Pacific business development and capture activities, giving the intern structured exposure to how industry identifies, shapes, qualifies, and pursues mission-focused opportunities across the INDOPACOM theater. The SkillBridge Intern – INDOPACOM Business Development and Capture Support will support KBR’s front-end business development efforts for Indo-Pacific programs under the direction of the Senior Account Manager, INDOPACOM. This internship is designed for a transitioning military leader seeking practical exposure to private-sector defense business development, capture strategy, customer engagement planning, opportunity qualification, and proposal support. The intern will help convert operational knowledge, regional understanding, and military experience into business development products that support KBR’s growth priorities. This role is unpaid through the SkillBridge program and is intended to provide meaningful transition experience, industry exposure, professional mentorship, and resume-building outcomes aligned to post-military career goals.

Requirements

  • Current transitioning service member approved or eligible for participation in the DoD SkillBridge program.
  • Experience supporting military operations, sustainment, logistics, emergency management, security operations, or joint/coalition planning.
  • Experience operating in or supporting the INDOPACOM area of responsibility.
  • Experience preparing executive-level briefs, operational summaries, decision papers, or staff products for senior leaders.
  • Ability to participate in a structured internship supporting business development, capture, and account management activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Active security clearance or recent eligibility.
  • Experience with joint, coalition, multinational, or interagency coordination.
  • Familiarity with INDOPACOM commands, Army Pacific operations, sustainment requirements, exercises, or regional posture initiatives.
  • Exposure to budget planning, resource management, operational readiness, or enterprise-level program coordination.
  • Lean Six Sigma, project management, or related process improvement training.

Responsibilities

  • Support INDOPACOM account planning, market research, and opportunity tracking for KBR Readiness and Sustainment pursuits.
  • Assist with customer, command, agency, and partner mapping to help identify key stakeholders, mission needs, acquisition drivers, and engagement priorities.
  • Help develop pursuit briefs, meeting prep materials, call plans, after-action notes, and customer engagement summaries for the Senior Account Manager.
  • Support early-stage capture activities, including opportunity qualification, competitive research, win-theme development, and voice-of-customer documentation.
  • Assist in translating military operational requirements into industry-facing business development inputs, including capability alignment, mission need statements, and potential solution themes.
  • Participate in internal business development meetings, capture discussions, pipeline reviews, and strategy sessions to gain exposure to KBR’s pursuit lifecycle.
  • Support development of white paper inputs, request for information responses, market intelligence summaries, and other pre-proposal materials as appropriate.
  • Apply INDOPACOM regional knowledge and joint-force operational experience to help inform pursuit strategy, partner analysis, and customer understanding.
  • Build a transition portfolio of business development work products that demonstrates private-sector experience in capture support, market analysis, stakeholder engagement, and defense industry operations.
