About The Position
The Skill Instructor works on an as-needed, part-time on-call basis at Quest, Inc.’s Adult Training Center in Tampa. There are no guaranteed weekly hours, and schedules may vary. The role supports adults with developmental disabilities by facilitating skill development, meaningful day activities, community inclusion, and vocational skill training. It also provides transportation, medication support, personal care, and assistance with daily living needs while maintaining a safe and clean environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Read, write, and comprehend English and remain calm and communicate during a crisis.
Nice To Haves
- Valid Florida driver’s license with no major driving violations.
- Previous working knowledge of basic office equipment, such as a computer, copier, tablet, or calculator.
- Experience or familiarity with a Hoyer lift, van lift, and adaptive equipment such as wheelchairs, scooters, and walkers.
Responsibilities
- Drive large-capacity vehicles to transport program participants to and from the training center and on community outings.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor self-administration, follow medication disposal protocols, maintain medication counts, and communicate with pharmacies as needed.
- Facilitate skill development programs, including required instruction, assistance, prompting, and documentation; contribute ideas, suggestions, and feedback.
- Encourage and support participants’ engagement in meaningful day activities, community inclusion trips, and other scheduled activities through active involvement.
- Meet processes and timelines for paid vocational skill training, including assisting with contract work, performing quality assurance, and loading and unloading work.
- Implement personal care, meal, and behavior service protocols and assist participants with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, toileting, mealtime assistance, and repositioning.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by completing routine housekeeping, reporting potential hazards, and maintaining assigned areas.
- Report to work during inclement weather to ensure adequate supervision and care, which may include sheltering in place during a hurricane.
