About The Position

The Skill Advancement Coach provides structured, skill-based coaching to investigation supervisors and other staff across DCFS/CWCA teams. This role strengthens supervisory capacity, improves team performance, and promotes alignment with DCFS values, well-being goals, and implementation science principles. The coach supports supervisors in applying trauma-informed, family-centered, evidence-based and evidence-informed approaches, translating strategic leadership into actionable development plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, psychology, public administration or related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in child welfare or related fields
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Excellent verbal and written abilities are essential, as well as a high level of computer skills
  • Must be an excellent communicator and team player
  • Employee must maintain automobile insurance. La Rabida strongly recommends that the employee maintain the following liability limits: Automobile liability/$100,000 per person per accident; bodily injury/$300,000 aggregate per accident; property damage/$50,000 per accident; and automobile medical payments/$1,000 per person

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in social work, human services, psychology, public administration or related field
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience providing staff development, coaching, mentoring, training, or leadership development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-person, individual and group coaching to DCFS investigation supervisors and other targeted audiences, focusing on leadership, communication, reflective practice, and problem-solving skills.
  • Support investigation supervisors and other assigned staff in applying trauma-informed, family-centered, and evidence-informed practices with their teams.
  • Provide reflective support to supervisors and other assigned staff, helping them improve decision-making, team management, and staff development practices.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, feedback, and accountability among supervisory and other staff.
  • Support integration of coaching into DCFS designated program initiatives
  • Collect and analyze outcomes
  • Contribute to CQI processes
  • Performs other duties as assigned
