About The Position

Promote and support the central mission of Mission Ridge by delivering exceptional guest service and professional instruction to guests of all ages and skill levels. Instructors teach skiing and/or snowboarding based on their experience and qualifications, while also contributing to a safe, fun, and educational environment. This role requires energy, enthusiasm, and a passion for sharing the mountain experience.

Requirements

Ability to effectively communicate techniques and encourage learning for guests of all ages and ability levels.
Maintain a friendly, helpful, and professional attitude while interacting with students and families.
Must ski or snowboard at an intermediate level or higher (minimum Level 6).
Applicants must be capable intermediate skiers or snowboarders at minimum.
Instructors must be able to ski or snowboard for several hours at a time, assist students with equipment, and demonstrate techniques clearly.
The role involves frequent bending, lifting, and supporting students of varying sizes.
Strong stamina, balance, and agility are essential, along with the ability to communicate instructions effectively while in motion.
Must be able to read departmental communications and monitor/maintain a safe learning environment.
Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with co-workers and guests.
Consistent and constant standing and walking while in operation.
The position requires the ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, kneel, stoop, and crouch for extended periods.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
Must be able to write, type and use phone system

Nice To Haves

Affiliation with PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America) or another recognized instructional organization is preferred.
Experience teaching or coaching groups, particularly children, is highly valued.
Additional qualifications in education, early childhood instruction, or pre-school settings are beneficial.

Responsibilities

Teach skiing or snowboarding during assigned days, nights, and time periods in accordance with Ski School guidelines.
Offer excellent service to all guests and serve as a positive representative of both Mission Ridge and the Ski School.
Attend both mandatory and voluntary training sessions to continually improve performance and teaching ability.
Take full responsibility for designated work assignments and scheduling requirements.
Be familiar with and share general mountain information with guests.
Stay informed about teaching practices, snow sports products, and Ski School procedures.
Promptly notify supervisors of any incidents and complete necessary forms with accuracy.
Support and collaborate with coworkers, other instructors, and all Mission Ridge departments.
Operate in a challenging outdoor mountain environment, including cold, wind, and snow.
Regularly lift and move equipment and assist students, requiring moderate physical exertion.
