Ski Patrol Manager
About The Position
The Ski Patrol Manager is responsible for the daily operations and management of Ski Patrol and National Ski Patrol (NSP) operations at Lee Canyon. This role involves overseeing the hiring, training, scheduling, and supervision of Ski Patrol and NSP staff, ensuring all necessary certifications and training are up-to-date. The manager must be capable of performing all duties of their subordinates and specific managerial tasks. A key aspect of this role is ensuring the safety of employees and guests, managing departmental budgets, and maintaining operational readiness of the ski area facilities and trails. The position also requires acting as a liaison with external agencies like EMS and hospitals, maintaining incident records, and preparing/revising policies and procedures. The role is dynamic, requiring adaptability to emergency response and operational changes in a mountain resort environment.
Requirements
- Must possess OEC, EMT, 80-hour WFR, or WEMT certification.
- Must have at least intermediate skiing or snowboarding ability.
- Must be reasonably physically fit.
- Must be able to perform patrol duties in a high alpine environment with unpredictable and adverse weather conditions.
- Must have the ability to lift up to 50lbs and carry 50 yards.
- Must be able to work in a standing position for up to 8 hours.
- Must be able to work outside in temperatures below 32 degrees for up to 8 hours.

Responsibilities
- Protect and preserve the safety of employees and guests.
- Supervise and manage employees reporting to the Ski Patrol Manager.
- Oversee interviewing, hiring, training, and scheduling of Ski Patrol and NSP staff.
- Manage departmental budget, including use of supplies and materials, and work with the Risk Manager on budget planning.
- Administer and enforce mountain and area rules and policies.
- Oversee pre-season setup, in-season maintenance, and post-season tear-down of mountain and trails, as well as ski patrol facilities.
- Ensure completion of all patient care records, incident reports, and accident investigations.
- Act as a liaison between Lee Canyon, the National Ski Patrol, EMS agencies, Paramedics, and Hospitals.
- Maintain incident rates, accident investigation files, and training/equipment for lift evacuation and low-angle rescue.
- Prepare, revise, and distribute Ski Patrol and NSP policies, procedures, and manuals.
- Perform emergency response and operational tasks as needed.
- Adhere to all State and Federal employment laws, Company policies, and Safety Standards.
