About The Position

The Skate School Associate supports the daily operation of the Skate School and serves as the primary point of contact during early-morning skating sessions. This position is responsible for preparing the Skate School operation for opening, overseeing skater check-in and payments, monitoring rink readiness, and communicating operational concerns to Skate School leadership. The Skate School Associate is expected to provide excellent customer service, maintain an organized and professional environment, and respond promptly to issues that may impact lessons or rink operations.

  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions during early-morning operations.
  • Ability to remain professional and composed when addressing operational or customer-service concerns.
  • Strong attention to detail when handling check-ins and payments.
  • Reliable and punctual, with the ability to consistently report for 5:30 AM shifts as scheduled.

Responsibilities

  • Arrive at the rink by 5:30 AM and ensure Skate School operations are prepared for the start of the day.
  • Set up and ensure the music box is operational and ready for use by 6:00 AM.
  • Confirm that the ice surface is ready and safe for scheduled skating activities prior to opening.
  • Identify and promptly report ice or operational concerns, including missed ice resurfacing or other conditions that may affect skating activities.
  • Notify the Skate School Director and appropriate management immediately of any issue that could delay rink opening or impact scheduled lessons.
  • Check in skaters participating in private lessons.
  • Check in skaters participating in group lessons.
  • Verify and check in clients utilizing freestyle passes.
  • Process payments for walk-in freestyle sessions.
  • Process payments for one-time private lessons.
  • Process payments for clients enrolled on a pay-by-lesson basis.
  • Ensure check-in and payment procedures are completed accurately and in accordance with Skate School procedures.
  • Serve as an on-site point of contact for skaters, parents/guardians, and coaches during assigned Skate School hours.
  • Keep the Skate School Director and management informed of operational issues, customer concerns, scheduling matters, or other incidents requiring attention.
  • Communicate urgent concerns immediately when they may affect rink opening, ice conditions, or scheduled programming.
  • Provide professional, courteous, and solution-oriented customer service to Skate School participants and guests.
  • Assist with resolving routine questions or concerns and escalate matters to management when appropriate.
  • Monitor Skate School activities during assigned shifts to help ensure lessons and sessions operate efficiently.
  • Support coaches and Skate School staff with operational needs as they arise.
  • Help maintain an organized, professional, and welcoming Skate School environment.
  • Ensure established Skate School procedures and operational expectations are followed during assigned shifts.
  • Complete other Skate School-related duties as assigned by the Skate School Director or management.
