About The Position

Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Housing, the Social Services Supervisor will assist previous homeless individuals with a primary diagnosis of serious and persistent mental illness, alcohol and substance use to restore or enhance their capacity for social functioning, while creating societal conditions favorable to their goals. This position will supervise the case managers assigned by the Director of Housing. Must be able to provide support across 6 supportive housing sites. The Social Services Supervisor must be able to independently assess the psychosocial functioning and needs of tenants to formulate and implement a treatment plan, identifying the tenants’ problems, strengths, weaknesses, coping skills, and assistance needed. Must have knowledge of community resources, how to make appropriate referrals to community and other governmental agencies for services, and ability to coordinate services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, (BSW or BHC)
  • 2 years’ experience providing clinical services within a social service supervised setting working with vulnerable populations
  • CPR/First Aide or receive within 2 months of hire
  • Ability to interact effectively with all populations served
  • Ability to speak, read and write the English language
  • Computer literate

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities, and treatment procedures
  • Knowledge and skill in the use of computer software applications for drafting documents, data management, and tracking

Responsibilities

  • Supervise case managers assigned by the Assistant Director of Housing
  • Work at multiple sites
  • Provide support across 6 supportive housing sites
  • Independently assess the psychosocial functioning and needs of tenants to formulate and implement a treatment plan, identifying the tenants’ problems, strengths, weaknesses, coping skills, and assistance needed
  • Make appropriate referrals to community and other governmental agencies for services, and ability to coordinate services
  • Provide consultation services to other staff about the psychosocial needs of tenants and the impact of psychosocial problems on health care and compliance with treatment
  • Provide crisis intervention and stabilization as needed
  • Maintain, review, and sign off on all required documentation/reports and submit all in a timely manner
  • Identify program needs and make recommendations
  • Promote good community relations through participation in community affairs and community outreach programs as assigned
  • Participate in Job Training and Education Programs, Meetings and Committees
  • Attend mandatory in-service annually
  • Attend seminars to further professional development
  • Perform related tasks as assigned
