About The Position

Delaware Valley Excavation is seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to oversee field operations for excavation, site development, and heavy civil construction projects. The Site Superintendent is responsible for the overall coordination and execution of work in the field, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with project plans, specifications, and company standards. This position serves as a key connection between field operations and project management and requires strong leadership, construction knowledge, planning capabilities, and communication skills.

Requirements

Significant experience in excavation, site development, heavy civil construction, or a related field required.
Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, elevations, schedules, and project documentation.
Strong understanding of construction sequencing and the ability to plan work ahead of field operations.
Knowledge of construction safety standards and OSHA requirements.
Demonstrated ability to lead multiple crews, Foremen, subcontractors, and field operations.
Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to identify potential project issues and make effective field decisions.
Ability to coordinate multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
Working knowledge of heavy equipment capabilities and appropriate equipment utilization.
Valid driver's license required.

Nice To Haves

Previous Superintendent, General Foreman, or similar field leadership experience preferred.
Strong working knowledge of excavation, grading, earthwork, drainage, utilities, site preparation, and heavy construction operations.
OSHA training and applicable construction certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee and coordinate all daily field operations for assigned projects.
Provide leadership and direction to Site Foremen, field crews, operators, laborers, and other project personnel.
Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, equipment, materials, and deliveries to maintain project schedules.
Review project plans, specifications, scopes of work, schedules, and contract requirements prior to and throughout construction.
Develop short-term field plans and coordinate upcoming work with Project Managers and Foremen.
Monitor project schedules and production to ensure milestones and completion dates are achieved.
Identify potential scheduling, production, manpower, equipment, or material issues and proactively develop solutions.
Ensure field work is performed according to plans, specifications, elevations, grades, and quality requirements.
Oversee excavation, grading, earthwork, drainage, utility installation, site preparation, and related site development activities.
Coordinate with Project Managers regarding project progress, schedule changes, field conditions, change orders, and additional work.
Maintain communication with customers, general contractors, inspectors, engineers, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
Ensure proper jobsite documentation is maintained, including daily reports, manpower, equipment usage, deliveries, production, and project conditions.
Monitor labor and equipment productivity and work with project management to maximize efficiency.
Ensure crews have the necessary information, equipment, materials, and resources to successfully complete scheduled work.
Conduct and participate in project meetings, safety meetings, and coordination meetings as required.
Enforce company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and project-specific safety procedures.
Maintain a safe, organized, and professional jobsite.
Monitor workmanship and quality throughout the project and address deficiencies promptly.
Assist with project startup, mobilization, sequencing, and closeout activities.
Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to Foremen and field personnel.
Promote accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and effective communication throughout field operations.
Perform additional duties as necessary to support successful project completion.
