About The Position

NexGen is looking for a Superintendent to join their In-Plant, Special Projects division in Sparks, Nevada! The Superintendent is the Company's representative assigned the responsibility and authority for daily coordination and direction of the project so that it is safe, within budget, on schedule, to the Company's quality standards, and to the customer's satisfaction. To accomplish this, he/she must conceptualize a plan of how to construct the project that meets the client’s goals and must ensure that the daily and weekly activities are consistent with this plan. The Superintendent is responsible for the daily health and well-being of the project including schedule, cost, safety, quality and customer relationships. They must have a good understanding of construction processes on commercial projects. Must accept personal responsibility for the implementation of safe work practices, knowledge of quality requirements for each project, and maintain a high level of communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • A minimum of ten years’ experience in the construction industry, along with a minimum of five years of experience in construction.
  • Solid teamwork background.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. (i.e. “Self Starter”). Highly motivated with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative.
  • Must be willing to travel 100% of the time

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate activities within the project site using Crew Supervision
  • Interpret & Enforce project, customer, and company policy
  • Provide project status updates
  • Plan all tools, equipment, and material needs for the safe/efficient execution of the project scope
  • Interface with customer and NexGen management
  • Maintain good stewardship of the NexGen reputation and the customer budget
  • Adapt to changing conditions quickly and develop safe, efficient work plans
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Communicate well both verbally and in writing, create accurate and punctual reports, share information and ideas with others, have good listening skills.
  • Identify, assimilate and comprehend the critical elements of a situation to extract and interpret implications of courses of actions to attend to details of a problem.
  • Effectively plan and control work, motivate and develop subordinates, improve work methods and results, encourage and support suggestions for work improvements.
  • Participate in the Contractor/Subcontractor meetings. Maintain open and positive communications.
  • Plan for and use resources efficiently, always look for ways to reduce costs.
  • Be attentive to detail and accuracy, be committed to excellence, look for improvements continuously, monitor quality levels, find root cause of quality problems, own/act on quality problems.
  • Monitor construction schedules and advise on potential setbacks or issues.
  • Communicate expectations and importance of safety. Follow up and ensure safety audits are completed accurately and timely. Identify critical issues and assist in the development of improvement procedures.
  • Ensure that all safety processes and procedures are planned for in the estimates and are adhered to by the erection crews.
  • Coordinate Safety inspections with Safety Director.
  • Read construction set drawings, process design documents, P&ID, isometrics, and equipment sheets for work planning purposes
  • Sequence work based upon available design documents
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, production reports and other Company required reports.
  • Develop procurement plans
  • Ensure that the project meets established key milestones.
  • Ensure that the construction work is completed on schedule in conjunction with Field Foreman
  • Oversee the delivery of materials, construction tools, and equipment. Manage rental equipment and demobilization/off-rent when not in use.
  • Ensure the Quality Control Plan is set up for the project, set the tone for enforcing the quality standards for the project by attending and participating in buyout and pre-mobilization meetings; and be alert to a deviation from our quality standards and ensure proper corrective action is initiated.
