About The Position

Join Apple's Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) organization, a critical part of supporting Apple's global technology systems. IS&T powers everything Apple does for customers and the people who build for them, supporting billions of active devices and ensuring the seamless operation of modern technology. Infrastructure Services, within IS&T, manages data center equipment and systems, delivering compute, storage, and networking services for teams across Apple. The Data Center Operations Team is seeking a leader to manage a team of Data Center Technicians, ensuring data center service uptime. This role involves executing the installation, service, repair, support, maintenance, and decommissioning of network, storage, and compute assets. Responsibilities include partnering with planning teams on installation forecasts and IT cabinet builds, managing and reporting on space and power consumption, and collaborating with the local Data Center Facility Manager to ensure environmental uptime. The role also requires cross-functional collaboration with internal business groups, the Operations Center, and Engineering teams to improve processes and resolve issues, while keeping Apple's services online and installing capacity. Key performance indicators, team goals for efficiency, asset management, and leadership of data center technicians are central to this position.

Requirements

Experience managing or leading employees and/or a contingent workforce in a data center or equivalent environment.
Experience working in an IT environment in areas of installation, delivery, or operations management.
Experience working with servers, hardware, or network hardware.
Understanding of data center power and cooling principles.
Strategic problem solver who understands how the different functions within a data center intersect.
Ability to inspire, coach, train, and develop personnel, managers, and individual contributors alike to provide extraordinary customer service and deliver results consistently.
Ability to forge collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams and vendors.
Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor your message to your audience.
Experience presenting technical information detailing specific projects or schedules.

Responsibilities

Execute the installation, service, repair, support, maintenance, and decommissioning of network, storage, and compute assets in our data center.
Partner with planning teams on installation forecasts and IT cabinet builds.
Manage and report on space and power consumption.
Interact directly with the local Data Center Facility Manager to ensure environment uptime.
Work cross-functionally with internal business groups to provide best-in-class service.
Partner with internal support groups such as the Operations Center and Engineering teams on process improvements and monitoring and issue resolution.
Keep Apple’s services online while continuing to install capacity.
Provide reporting on key performance indicators.
Define team goals for efficiency.
Manage assets.
Lead a team of data center technicians.
