About The Position

The Role: The Site Security Manager is accountable for the execution and continuous improvement of physical security operations at the Moderna Laval Manufacturing Site, encompassing production areas, warehouse and logistics operations, and laboratory environments. This role manages site-level security programs to protect employees, visitors, assets, and facilities; leads security personnel and vendors; and ensures security practices enable safe, compliant, and uninterrupted operations. Operating with moderate autonomy, the Site Security Manager applies established security frameworks and Moderna policies and procedures while exercising sound judgment in addressing operational, safety, and security risks. The role partners closely with Facilities, EHS, HR, and Digital to support site business objectives and enterprise standards. Here’s What You’ll Do: Site Security Operations: Manage day-to-day physical security operations across manufacturing, warehouse, and laboratory spaces, including access control, patrols, monitoring, and incident response. Implement and maintain site security procedures, post orders, and standards in alignment with Moderna Corporate Security policies and procedures. Conduct site risk assessments and vulnerability reviews; implement mitigation actions in partnership with site leadership. Ensure security operations support business continuity, safety, and regulatory expectations. Manufacturing, Warehouse & Lab Enablement: Oversee controlled access to production areas, laboratories, hazardous material storage, and secure inventory locations. Support secure material flow across shipping, receiving, and warehousing operations. Protect intellectual property, proprietary processes, and regulated materials. Collaborate with EHS and Quality to align security controls with GMP, safety, and compliance requirements. Team & Vendor Leadership: Provide direct oversight of site security services and/or contract security providers. Manage staffing plans, shift coverage, training, and performance management. Serve as the primary site liaison for security vendors and local emergency responders. Incident Management & Investigations: Lead responses to security incidents, safety-related events, and emergencies. Support investigative inquiries and coordinate with HR, Legal, EHS, and Corporate Security as appropriate. Prepare clear, timely incident reports, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans. Systems, Technology & Reporting: Oversee physical security systems, including access control, CCTV, alarms, and visitor management. Partner with Facilities, IT, and vendors on system maintenance, audits, and upgrades. Track incidents, trends, and KPIs to improve site security performance and resilience. Contribute to the continuous modernization of security systems, including opportunities to leverage advanced analytics and Generative AI-enabled tools to enhance risk detection, reporting accuracy, and decision intelligence. Collaboration & Communication: Act as the site security point of contact for audits, inspections, and site events. Deliver security awareness training to employees, contractors, and visitors. Participate in site emergency preparedness planning and drills. Provide regular updates and recommendations to site and Global Security leadership. Requirements

  • BS/BA in a related field required, plus 5 years of experience in security, law enforcement, military, audit, or a combination thereof preferred.
  • Experience leading security staff and/or managing contract security services.
  • Working knowledge of security operations, technologies incident management, and emergency response.
  • Strong communication, judgment, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Proven track record of leading diverse groups and encouraging cohesion around a common goal.
  • Experience developing and maintaining strong partnerships with internal and external organizations.
  • Ability to champion change and continuous improvement across Moderna and the business.
  • Ability to be agile and collaborate effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional matrix environment.
