About The Position

PCI is seeking a Safety Technician for its Austin, TX operations based out in Taylor, TX. This individual will be responsible for promoting safe work practices and behaviors to instill an injury-free culture among all site and field personnel. The role involves assisting with the administration of PCI’s Accident Prevention Plan, policies, and procedures, on jobsites and at the branch through utilization of safety resources such as training and mitigation of unsafe practices. The Safety Technician will ensure company and client safety reports and documentation are submitted on time and in accordance with client requirements and expectations. Collaboration with the site safety manager and field teams is crucial for developing and implementing safety policies and procedures, monitoring their effectiveness, and making recommendations for improvement. This position is safety-sensitive and requires investigation and evaluation of injuries and illnesses for the project site. The role demands conveying a professional and positive attitude as the safety representative of PCI and creating and maintaining positive relationships with all trades, vendors, co-workers, and customers to maximize effectiveness and efficiency.

Requirements

• Must have at least 2-3 years’ experience in construction safety
• Must have OSHA 30 and OSHA 510 certification
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Displays strong verbal communication skills with an ability to effectively convey information to employees, customers, vendors, and other stakeholders
• Previous Fall Protection & Confined Space Training.
• Motivated self-starter willing to take initiative.
• Must have provided safety oversight for a minimum of 15 craft in the field.
• Capable of spending 80% of daily time in the field with craft.
• Demonstrated strong work ethic with labor experience in the field.
• Able to work 50-60 hour work weeks.
• Able to withstand prolonged periods standing and working outside
• Physically able to perform assigned tasks
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds independently

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
• Degree in Occupational or Environmental Health and Safety is a plus
• Previous experience conducting safety training is a plus
• Local to Austin, TX metro Area

Responsibilities

• Responsible for investigation and evaluation of injuries and illnesses for the project site
• Convey a professional and positive attitude as the safety representative of PCI
• Create and maintain positive relationships with all trades, vendors, co-workers and customers to maximize effectiveness and efficiency.
