About The Position

This role supports a large-scale data center construction project, specifically overseeing safety operations for a roofing contractor. The project involves installation of roofing membrane, sheet metal, and wood block systems, with a workforce of approximately 50 personnel on site. The Site Safety Manager will serve as the primary safety lead, ensuring compliance and helping establish structured safety protocols for a team new to projects of this size. The environment may initially be unstructured, requiring a proactive, adaptable safety professional who can guide, coach, and stabilize site operations while maintaining high safety standards.

Requirements

  • CHST or CSP certification required
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant safety experience
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications
  • Data center construction experience required
  • Roofing experience required
  • Familiarity with crane & rigging safety procedures (Pick Plans & Signal Person experience)
  • Procore experience required
  • Experience working with union labor environments
  • Ability to lead and coach teams on safety best practices
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Experience assisting with permits, JHAs, PTPs, and compliance documentation
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving job site
  • Must be able to walk and navigate large job sites for extended periods

Responsibilities

  • Lead all on-site safety activities for roofing operations
  • Monitor and enforce OSHA and site-specific safety compliance
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and safety meetings
  • Assist with development and management of JHAs, PTPs, and permits
  • Coach and mentor crews and supervisors on safety practices
  • Support implementation and utilization of Procore for safety documentation
  • Coordinate with project management and field teams to address hazards
  • Investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions
  • Help establish safety processes for a growing and developing project
