We are currently seeking a dedicated Site Safety Health Officer to join our team. The Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO) is responsible for ensuring the safety and health of personnel on federal military projects. This role involves developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs to comply with all federal, state, and local safety regulations and guidelines. The SSHO will work closely with project managers, supervisors, and other personnel to ensure a safe working environment and promote a culture of safety awareness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or other relevant certification is highly desirable.
  • Completion of OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Training or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in construction safety, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience working on federal military construction projects is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with EM 385-1-1, OSHA regulations, and other relevant safety standards.
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety practices and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to conduct thorough investigations and root cause analyses.
  • Proficient in using safety management software and tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to extreme weather, noise, and hazardous materials.
  • Physical ability to conduct site inspections, including climbing ladders, walking on uneven terrain, and entering confined spaces.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed

Responsibilities

  • Safety Program Development and Implementation
  • Training and Education to Provide safety training and education to all site personnel, including new employee orientations, toolbox talks, and specific safety training as required.
  • Site Inspections and Audits of Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the site to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Incident Management and Reporting to Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement preventive measures.
  • Emergency Preparedness and Response to Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures.
