About The Position

Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe work environment for the Hospital Renovation Project in San Jose, Ca. You will collaborate closely with the Corporate Safety Officer and project managers to implement safety protocols that prioritize health, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • OSHA 30-hour construction safety class or equivalent within the last five (5) years.
  • Minimum of 5 years of complete building demolition/dismantling.
  • Ability to evaluate Superintendents and subcontractors on safety and health performance.
  • Able to work in a productive manner independently and with others in a team environment.
  • Ability to travel, if necessary
  • Excellent computer skills and proficient knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project and tool tracking software programs.
  • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in a written form.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to computer rate, ratio and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals.
  • Ability to inspect and maintain hospital ICRA policy.
  • Full understanding of crane safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies tailored to hospital renovation and demolition activities.
  • Supervise safe handling, storage, and use of materials, especially hazardous substances unique to hospital environments.
  • Maintain and improve first-aid, emergency response, and welfare facilities on site.
  • Conduct risk assessments, identify hazards, and implement corrective safety measures.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, corporate safety requirements, and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Liaise with local authorities, conduct safety audits, and support remedial actions.
  • Guarantee the workplace meets all health, safety, and welfare standards including ventilation, lighting, and sanitary facilities.
  • Manage risks associated with electrical, radiation, noise, and manual handling specific to hospital demolition.
  • Monitor safety practices, report on compliance, and recommend improvements.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare safety reports and documentation as required by project and safety managers.
  • Perform other safety-related duties as assigned.
