About The Position

RUSH Construction is a leading General Contractor committed to ensuring the highest standards of safety and health for our employees and partners. We are dedicated to creating a safe work environment and are looking for a diligent and experienced Construction Site Safety and Health Officer to join our team. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Site Safety and Health Officer to oversee and enforce safety policies and regulations on our job sites. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of safety procedures, excellent leadership abilities, and a commitment to protecting the health and well-being of all site workers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety and health role, preferably in the Construction Industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Possesses the required training, experience, and qualifications in accordance with EM 385-1-1 Section 01.A.17, and all associated sub-paragraphs.
  • Proven experience in accident investigation and reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen
  • Must have the ability to obtain Top Secret Security clearance.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job, with or without accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log which includes the area/operation inspected, date of inspection, identified hazards, recommended corrective actions, estimated and actual dates of corrections. Attach safety inspection logs to the Contractors' daily production report.
  • Conduct mishap investigations and complete required accident reports. Report mishaps and near misses.
  • Use and maintain OSHA's Form 300 to log work-related injuries and illnesses occurring on the project site for Prime Contractors and subcontractors and make them available to the Contracting Officer upon request. Post and maintain Form 300A on the site Safety Bulletin Board.
  • Maintain applicable safety reference material on the job site.
  • Attend pre-construction meetings, pre-work meetings including preparatory meetings, and periodic in-progress meetings.
  • Establish a Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Deficiency Tracking System that lists and monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution.
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements.
  • Maintain a list of hazardous chemicals on site and their material Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Maintain a weekly list of high hazard activities involving energy, equipment, excavation, entry into confined space, and elevation, and be prepared to discuss details during QC Meetings.
  • Provide and keep a record of site safety orientation and indoctrination for Contractor employees, subcontractor employees, and site visitors.
