About The Position

FIS is hiring a Senior Lead Site Reliability Engineer to design, build, and operate always-on, low-latency, highly secure payment platforms supporting large-scale financial transactions. This is a senior, hands-on engineering role focused on highly available, mission-critical platforms. The engineer will work across distributed systems, cloud platforms, observability, and reliability engineering to improve stability, performance, scalability, and operational efficiency, collaborating with engineering, development, and infrastructure teams while remaining involved in day-to-day technical work. The role is hybrid and based in Jacksonville, Florida. Current and future sponsorship are not available.

Requirements

  • Deep software engineering expertise designing, building, and operating large-scale, distributed, API-driven systems in production.
  • Strong continuous integration and continuous delivery experience with tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Harness, including pipeline design, deployment automation, and release engineering.
  • Expertise in observability, alerting, and reliability engineering using technologies such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Splunk, or the Elastic Stack.
  • Strong cloud experience with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including infrastructure as code, platform automation, and cloud-native design patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Windows, SQL Server or Oracle databases, and complex enterprise technology environments.
  • Experience operating highly available, mission-critical platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong automation and scripting skills using Python, Bash, Ansible, PowerShell, or similar technologies; C# and .NET experience is an additional advantage.
  • Experience owning reliability strategy or platform initiatives spanning multiple teams or business units.
  • Experience modernizing legacy financial systems into cloud-native or hybrid architectures with a focus on resilience and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement reliability architecture and engineering standards for scalable, resilient, and operationally efficient services, platforms, and infrastructure.
  • Build and evolve enterprise-grade observability capabilities across metrics, logs, and traces, including service-level objectives and indicators, to provide actionable insight into system health and customer experience.
  • Implement and continuously improve site reliability engineering practices, including error budgets, capacity modeling, resilience testing, graceful degradation, and operational readiness.
  • Architect automation and self-service capabilities; design secure continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, deployment automation, quality gates, and rollback strategies.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform deep root-cause analysis, and collaborate across engineering, platform, and infrastructure teams to deliver long-term reliability improvements.
  • Strengthen the reliability, scalability, and performance of mission-critical payment platforms while reducing operational risk and manual effort through automation and improving visibility into platform health.
