Site Reliability Engineer

Remote IT World
$0 - $110,000Remote

About The Position

Site Reliability Engineer The infrastructure doesn't run itself - and in high-frequency financial markets, "good enough" isn't a concept that exists. This is a role where what you build directly underpins mission-critical trading operations at scale. A recognised leader in fixed income trading connectivity, this fintech delivers a hosted integration platform for some of the world's most demanding financial institutions. The SRE team is a true generalist unit - from endpoint support to data centre provisioning and cloud infrastructure. We're looking for someone who thrives in an automation-first culture, brings a solid foundation in both systems and networking, and is equally comfortable deep in config files or on a call negotiating with a hardware vendor. You don't need to be the loudest voice in the room - you need to be the one who gets things done and keeps learning while you do it.

Requirements

  • Hands-on coding ability - not senior dev level, but you can write a working program in your language of choice. This is a hard requirement
  • Background as a sysadmin or network engineer - ideally both, or at minimum a solid working understanding of the other discipline
  • Practical experience with infrastructure automation tooling (e.g. Ansible) - everything is automated here; this is non-negotiable
  • Proven track record managing external vendors and third parties - via email, phone, and in negotiations; including hardware purchasing and enabling remote work setups
  • A growth mindset - self-motivated, open to feedback, and honest about the limits of your knowledge
  • Based in the UK or Europe, with availability to work UK business hours (9–5)

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with authentication protocols: SAML, OAuth2, Active Directory, Kerberos
  • Microsoft / Azure Active Directory administration
  • Database high availability experience - clustering or replication setups, particularly Postgres

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement automated server and network provisioning across physical infrastructure and cloud environments (AWS, GCP)
  • Continuously develop and improve the Continuous Delivery pipeline responsible for server, switch, and software deployments
  • Manage relationships with hardware vendors, telecom providers, and financial institutions - from procurement to ongoing coordination
  • Share full team ownership of the environment - no "that's not my area" mentality here
  • Take initiative on improvements without waiting to be told - autonomy is expected, not just tolerated

Benefits

  • Salary up to £110,000
  • Equity / share options
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Remote-first working model with flexible location within UK and Europe
