About The Position

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Site Logistics Packager – Represented/Tariff in Louisville, KY. This position is for a packaging operator who is responsible for operating the packaging equipment, putting product into bags, and loading product onto trailers using a forklift. The packaging operator will test product quality, conduct housekeeping, isolate energy sources to packaging equipment for maintenance, and issue safe work permits.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a High School diploma or GED.
  • Must have a current, valid US driver’s license.
  • Willing and able to work all applicable shifts on a rotating basis (including weekends) and work overtime when needed.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.
  • No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
  • Safety Standards: Willing to adhere to all safety standards, including the smoke free and drug-free workplace policy.
  • Have the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Able to perform sustained manual activities at moderate to heavy levels of exertion.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 or more years chemical industry experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Able to drive a forklift.
  • Associates degree or higher

Responsibilities

  • Follows Operating Discipline principles, procedures and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.
  • Operates and field checks process equipment.
  • Monitor process conditions, equipment and control systems.
  • Performs tasks assigned to operations as directed - including field checks, equipment preparation, samples, etc.
  • Ensures operational activities and process performance are aligned with plant and business goals.
  • Uses trouble shooting skills to resolve process related deviations and problems.
  • As required, initiates and participates in Root Cause Investigations.
  • Coaches and train others on plant operations.
  • Uses process knowledge and skills to make improvements in plant performance and Operating Discipline.
  • Monitors, collects and inputs plant metrics for Statistical Process Control (S.P.C.), asset utilization, conversion costs, and production yields and identify opportunities for plant optimization.
  • Utilizes Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools to optimize plant operation and provide feedback on the effectiveness of the SPC tools.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned based on job role and department.
  • Perform process equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements and preventative maintenance, utilizing appropriate processes and disciplines
