Site Infrastructure & Launch Manager - DFW

Flytrex•Arlington, TX
•Onsite

About The Position

Flytrex is scaling backyard drone delivery across DFW and into new metros. The Site Infrastructure & Launch Manager owns each new site from approval through first delivery and into stable operations. The role builds the critical path across site readiness, electrical and power infrastructure, permitting, flight operations, maintenance, and partner readiness, and serves as the on-ground launch captain responsible for finding blockers and driving decisions. This is a hands-on role involving physical site builds and power infrastructure for drone hubs, chargers, cameras, RTK, and networking, supported by utility service or a generator. The manager owns the electrical build-out: scoping it, securing utility and city approvals, managing licensed electricians through inspection and energization, and ensuring chargers have sufficient power before the first drone flies. The role is based in DFW, with roughly half the week spent in the field across the metro and extended periods on site during launches, including launches outside DFW. Early mornings and weekends may be required around launches and outages.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years in operations, launch, deployment, infrastructure rollout, or logistics, with a track record of owning complex launches requiring multi-team alignment and a fixed date.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on electrical or power infrastructure field experience in commercial or industrial electrical work, EV charging installation, solar and storage, telecom or tower power, generators, or BESS. Must have scoped, wired, energized, or commissioned installations, or managed licensed electricians who did.
  • Working knowledge of the NEC; ability to build a load calculation, read a one-line diagram and panel schedule, size a service and generator, and identify work requiring a licensed electrician.
  • Experience working with utilities on new service and with city inspectors on permits, inspections, and corrections.
  • Experience writing scopes, obtaining bids, and managing electricians, contractors, and vendors to drawings, budgets, and dates.
  • Strong field judgment and ability to move between executive updates and site-level detail.
  • Comfort with low-voltage systems and basic networking, including cellular, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet, as well as GPS or RTK hardware.
  • Clear written communication and ability to document work and lessons learned.
  • Valid Texas driver's license with a clean record; able to drive a box truck, lift 50 lb, work on ladders, and work outdoors in Texas summer.
  • Available for early mornings and weekends around launches and outages.

Nice To Haves

  • Texas journeyman electrician license, documented apprentice hours, or EVITP certification.
  • Generator experience, including sizing, transfer, fuel, and maintenance.
  • Experience with city permitting and municipal approvals in Texas.
  • OSHA 10/30 and NFPA 70E.
  • Aviation, drone or UAS, robotics, or autonomous vehicle operations background; FAA Part 107.
  • Experience building launch playbooks, readiness checklists, or dashboards using tools such as Monday.com, Smartsheet, or Looker.
  • Startup or early-scale operations experience.

Responsibilities

  • Own new sites from approval through launch and stable operations, meeting target go-live dates.
  • Build and manage critical-path plans covering site readiness, power, permits, operations, staffing, and partners; address risks early with solutions.
  • Serve as the on-ground launch captain, clear blockers, and escalate decision-ready options to leadership.
  • Enforce go/no-go criteria for infrastructure, safety, and flight readiness, and run acceptance checkouts before first flight.
  • Lead post-launch reviews and update playbooks to make future rollouts faster and lower cost.
  • Assess candidate sites for power, access, line of sight, and permitting before lease signing or date commitments; make technical deployment go/no-go decisions and manage landlord and HOA requirements.
  • Build load calculations and specify service sizes, panels, circuits, and conductor runs.
  • Determine utility versus generator or temporary power setups, and oversee generator sizing, fuel, and runtime planning.
  • Manage utility applications, meter sets, and energization with local DFW providers.
  • Pull electrical permits, schedule inspections, and resolve city corrections.
  • Scope work, obtain bids, and manage licensed electricians through installation, inspection, and energization while managing budgets.
  • Verify electrical installations against drawings before energizing hardware.
  • Install and commission hubs, chargers, and networking equipment; test rated power load before handover.
  • Deliver as-builts, one-lines, load calculations, and panel schedules.
  • Secure municipal permits, track approvals against launch timelines, and support local regulatory coordination.
  • Manage contractors, equipment deliveries, and site logistics, including truck outfits, fencing, and signage.
  • Manage site launch budgets and track spend and change orders to identify cost efficiencies.
  • Confirm operational readiness and hand off fully tested, energized, and documented sites to operations.
  • Provide initial operational support for power, charger, and generator troubleshooting until site stability is reached.
