About The Position

Flytrex is scaling backyard drone delivery across DFW and into new metropolitan areas. The Site Infrastructure & Launch Manager owns each new site from approval through first delivery and into stable operations. The role builds and manages the critical path across site readiness, electrical and power infrastructure, permitting, flight operations, maintenance, and partner readiness, and serves as the on-ground launch captain responsible for identifying blockers and driving decisions. This is a hands-on role involving physical site builds and power infrastructure for drone hubs, chargers, cameras, RTK, and networking equipment, supported by utility service or a generator. The manager directly scopes electrical build-outs, secures utility and municipal approvals, manages licensed electricians through installation and inspection, and ensures chargers have adequate power before flight operations begin. The role is based in DFW, with roughly half the week spent in the field across the metro and extended periods on site during launches, including launches outside DFW. Early mornings and weekends may be needed around launches and outages. The position requires driving a box truck, lifting up to 50 pounds, working on ladders, and working outdoors in Texas summer conditions.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years in operations, launch, deployment, infrastructure rollout, or logistics, with a record of owning complex, fixed-date launches requiring multi-team alignment.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on electrical or power infrastructure field experience in commercial or industrial electrical work, EV charging installation, solar and storage, telecom or tower power, generators, or BESS; experience scoping, wiring, energizing, or commissioning installations, or managing licensed electricians who performed this work.
  • Working knowledge of the NEC.
  • Ability to build load calculations, read one-line diagrams and panel schedules, size a service and a generator, and identify when work requires a licensed electrician.
  • Experience working with utilities on new service and with city inspectors on permits, inspections, and corrections.
  • Experience writing scopes, obtaining bids, and managing electricians, contractors, and vendors to drawings, budget, and dates.
  • Strong field judgment and ability to switch between executive updates and site-level detail.
  • Comfort with low-voltage systems and basic networking, including cellular, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet, and GPS or RTK hardware.
  • Clear written communication and ability to document work and lessons learned.
  • Valid Texas driver's license with a clean record.
  • Ability to drive a box truck, lift 50 pounds, work on ladders, and work outdoors in Texas summer conditions.
  • Availability for early mornings and weekends around launches and outages.

Nice To Haves

  • Texas journeyman electrician license, documented apprentice hours, or EVITP certification.
  • Generator experience, including sizing, transfer, fuel, and maintenance.
  • Experience with city permitting and municipal approvals in Texas.
  • OSHA 10/30 and NFPA 70E.
  • Aviation, drone or UAS, robotics, or autonomous vehicle operations background; FAA Part 107.
  • Experience building launch playbooks, readiness checklists, or dashboards using tools such as Monday.com, Smartsheet, or Looker.
  • Startup or early-scale operations experience.

Responsibilities

  • Own new sites from approval through launch and stable operations, meeting target go-live dates.
  • Build and run critical-path plans covering site readiness, power, permits, operations, staffing, and partners; address risks early with solutions.
  • Serve as the on-ground launch captain, clearing blockers and escalating decision-ready options to leadership.
  • Enforce go/no-go criteria for infrastructure, safety, and flight readiness; run acceptance checkouts before first flight.
  • Lead post-launch reviews and update playbooks to make future rollouts faster and lower cost.
  • Assess candidate sites for power, access, line of sight, and permitting before lease signing or date commitments.
  • Make technical deployment go/no-go decisions and manage landlord and HOA requirements.
  • Build load calculations and specify service sizes, panels, circuits, and conductor runs.
  • Determine site power setup, including utility versus generator or temporary power; oversee generator sizing, fuel, and runtime planning.
  • Manage utility applications, meter sets, and energization with local DFW providers.
  • Pull electrical permits, schedule inspections, and clear city corrections.
  • Scope work, obtain bids, and manage licensed electricians through installation, inspection, and energization while managing budgets.
  • Verify electrical installations against drawings before energizing hardware.
  • Install and commission hubs, chargers, and networking equipment, test rated power load, and prepare equipment for handover.
  • Produce as-built documentation, one-line diagrams, load calculations, and panel schedules.
  • Secure municipal permits, track approvals against launch timelines, and support local regulatory coordination.
  • Manage contractors, equipment deliveries, and site logistics, including truck outfits, fencing, and signage.
  • Manage site launch budgets and track spending and change orders to identify cost efficiencies.
  • Confirm operational readiness and hand off fully tested, energized, and documented sites to operations.
