About The Position

The Site HSE Manager works to drive sustainable HSE Programs, under the guidance of oversite of Center HSE Leadership. This position will influence and drive the development, implementation, and sustainability of a comprehensive health, safety, & environmentally compliant and “Zero Loss” culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with a minimum of 5 years of HSE experience, OR 7+ years HSE experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulatory management
  • Experience understanding and interpreting regulatory documents, such as NFPA, OSHA/DOL, EPA, and state plans, and specific knowledge of combustible dust, hot work, and control of hazardous energy.
  • Ability to lead thorough Root Cause Analysis into complex systems & programs
  • Experience with leading manufacturing tools i.e. Lean Mfg., Six Sigma, Autonomous maintenance, Focused Improvement, Kaizen, SMED, etc.
  • Ability to effectively manage, prioritize and execute multiple tasks in an autonomous way
  • Strong communication both written and verbal, including presentation skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrated history effectively leading HSE sections of capital projects is desired

Nice To Haves

  • Current certification as a trainer of First Aid/CPR/AED is desired
  • Experience supporting or leading a state mandated Worker’s Compensation Program is desired

Responsibilities

  • Drive safety process improvement projects and programs focused on reducing at-risk conditions and behaviors while working to build a “Zero Loss” safety culture
  • Support and lead development of plant HSE strategy
  • Lead safety culture change, focusing on mindsets, behaviors and capabilities
  • Raise the level of hazard awareness and lower risk tolerance across the plant
  • Engage everyone on an emotional as well as rational level.
  • Be viewed by customers as providing support and solutions to HSE needs
  • Lead HSE team and committee
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to leadership, technical support, and operating teams to drive safe decisions at the floor level.
  • Drive application of best practices
  • Lead HSE education/awareness through training, development, and communication to drive compliance to national, state and local regulatory requirements
  • Facilitate/manage safety improvement through use of improvement methodology tools
  • Partner with corporate HSE team to make sure plant fully implements Clorox HSE standards and to obtain support for plant HSE needs
  • Achieve “World class” HSE results, making sure plant results are at or better than goal, thru effective communications and process adherence, including injuries, notices of violation, spills, and environmental incidents and effective reporting with risk reduction follow-up to prevent recurrence
  • Support establishment metrics to support achievement of HSE goals
  • Conduct on-site HSE assessments
  • Observe plant activities and communicate out of compliance behaviors or conditions, taking immediate action to ensure compliance
  • Develop and lead Zero Waste to Landfill strategy
  • Manage the HSE Management System, troubleshoot any issues, and assist site in use system
  • Create processes to create a safe working environment throughout the plant
  • Develop and execute safety incident investigation process to drive root cause analysis and action planning to eliminate future risks
  • Coordinate, implement, and maintain highest level of compliance to OSHA and Clorox standards
  • Be the point of contact for safety & environmental inspectors and maintain a professional relationship with them.
  • Complete timely environmental regulatory reporting
  • Support local human resources or other plant functions on worker’s compensation claims management
  • Collaborate to make sure site capital and investment plans support top priority HSE needs
  • Provide input to operations for safe employee/machine engagement as equipment, improvements/new technology are introduced
  • Drive environmental initiatives to support sustainability goals.
