About The Position

This role is responsible for determining the scope of work requests, assigning priorities, and planning the general strategy of the work in collaboration with Maintenance/Metrology and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). The Site Engineering Planner & Scheduler ensures all planned work has the necessary components such as Materials, Labor, Special Tools, and Safety Permits. They manage Work Orders through their lifecycle, create Work Orders in the CMMS, and assist in optimizing maintenance/metrology/stockroom inventory programs. This position also identifies waste in the planning process, performs periodic reviews, and plans major and minor site outages to minimize operational impact. The role requires managing workload to align with available resources and equipment, avoiding manufacturing interruptions, and working collaboratively within a team environment with other Site Engineering functions. Key aspects include supporting Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) initiatives, maintaining strong customer service and stakeholder relationships, supporting non-conformance investigations with CAPA implementation, and ensuring compliance with plant safety and environmental regulations. The role also involves supporting responses to various quality and audit-related documentation.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Maintenance, Metrology, and Facility operations and engineering generally attained through studies resulting in a B.S., in engineering, a related discipline, or its equivalent.
  • A Minimum 4 years’ experience in one of the following fields: Clean Utilities Operations/Maintenance, Biopharmaceutical Process Equipment Maintenance, Experience with the alignment of Manufacturing Schedule with the Maintenance Schedule.
  • Experience in developing and following up on contracts with outside vendors in the performance of maintenance and/or metrology activities.
  • Adaptable to a fast paced, complex and changing business environment.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills are critical.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, database management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all employees at all levels.
  • Project management, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to perform well in a team-based environment.
  • Frequently interacts with subordinates and functional peer groups at various management levels. Interaction normally requires the ability to gain the cooperation of others and conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects/schedules.
  • Contact with but not limited to: maintenance, metrology, Utilities, Facilities, asset management, manufacturing engineering, quality and EH&S groups.
  • Incumbent’s primarily work environment is varied with time allocated outside and inside all buildings of this complex and includes potential exposure to hazardous materials and requires the appropriate use of Personal Protection Equipment and Safe Work Practices.
  • Work within the CUB, LOC, SUF, LSCC, BDB and Cell Therapy environments, which requires one to give high attention to detail and on occasion to properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Works on problems of moderate to complex scope in which analysis of situations or data requires review of identifiable factors.
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.
  • Acts as advisor to unit employees and becomes actively involved as required to meet schedules or resolve problems.
  • Ensures budgets, schedules, and performance requirements are met.
  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals and processes to meet objectives.
  • Work is reviewed by management to measure meeting of objectives and schedules.
  • Recommend changes to unit policies and procedures.
  • No direct reports may oversee contingent worker.

Responsibilities

  • Determines the scope of the work requests including clarification of the originator’s intent and assigning appropriate priority to facilitate effective deployment of resources.
  • Plans all works ensuring equipment availability and that work orders have Materials, Labor, Special Tools, Safety Permits etc. defined.
  • Progresses the Work Orders through the proper status’ according to the workflows and practices.
  • Responsible for management SR and create the Work Order related to the plan work.
  • Responsible for the planning of all Asset Management work with robust plan that includes EHS permits, tools (including special tools or tools that need to be coordinates, like scaffolding), Parts/Material, among others, before any work is sent for scheduling.
  • Plans a general strategy of the work (such as repair or replace) and includes a preliminary procedure if there is not one already in the file and Creates the Work Order in the CMMS.
  • Assists in the evaluation of the current procedures and recommend changes to optimize the maintenance/metrology/stockroom inventory program.
  • Identifies and escalates areas of waste within the planning process.
  • Performs periodic reviews following the periodic review process.
  • Plans Major and Minor Site Outages minimizing the Impact to Operations.
  • Manages workload to match available labor resources and equipment avail ability avoiding Manufacturing Interruptions.
  • Work within a team environment with other Site Engineering functions, including Manufacturing Engineering, Plant Engineering, Reliability, Manufacturing Scheduling in a matrix organization.
  • Supports all Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) initiatives.
  • Customer Service and networking is key in this role and sustain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support non-conformance investigation thoroughness with appropriate and timely CAPA implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with plant safety regulations and environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Support NOE’s, NTR’s, QE’s and Audit responses according to established due dates.
