The Site Engineering Manager provides onsite engineering leadership and technical oversight for complex construction and infrastructure projects at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, South Carolina. This role is responsible for managing engineering activities supporting construction execution, ensuring technical compliance with project specifications, regulatory requirements, and federal contracting standards. The Site Engineering Manager works closely with construction management, project leadership, and client representatives to ensure engineering solutions are effectively integrated into field operations. This position leads engineering coordination across multiple disciplines while maintaining compliance with applicable codes, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. Success in this role requires strong engineering leadership, the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams, and experience supporting projects within highly regulated federal or industrial environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of South Carolina (required).
  • Minimum 10+ years of engineering experience supporting industrial, infrastructure, or large-scale construction projects.
  • Experience leading engineering teams and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design standards, construction practices, and project delivery processes.
  • Experience supporting engineering efforts in highly regulated environments such as federal, nuclear, energy, or industrial facilities.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting federal construction or infrastructure projects, particularly projects supporting Department of Energy or similar federal agencies.
  • Experience working within nuclear or high-hazard facility environments.
  • Experience coordinating engineering support for large-scale infrastructure or industrial construction projects.
  • Advanced engineering degree or specialized technical certifications.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
  • Additional engineering certifications relevant to infrastructure or industrial projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite engineering leadership and technical oversight for construction and infrastructure projects supporting federal programs at Savannah River Site.
  • Manage and coordinate engineering teams responsible for design implementation, field engineering support, technical reviews, and engineering documentation.
  • Ensure engineering work complies with applicable regulatory requirements, project specifications, engineering standards, and federal contracting requirements.
  • Support construction teams by resolving technical issues, reviewing field conditions, and ensuring design intent is maintained during project execution.
  • Coordinate engineering activities with project management, construction leadership, subcontractors, and client stakeholders.
  • Review engineering deliverables including drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Support project planning activities including constructability reviews, design coordination, and risk mitigation planning.
  • Ensure engineering documentation and records meet project quality standards and are maintained in accordance with regulatory and audit requirements.
  • Mentor and support the development of engineering staff while promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing across project teams.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required to support project delivery and operational objectives.
