Environmental Health & Safety Manager - Washington, DC
About The Position
The Site EHS Representative will support multiple construction projects within the Washington, DC metro area, with an immediate focus on two active federal construction projects. This position serves as the on-site safety resource, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations while promoting a strong culture of safety throughout all phases of construction. The selected candidate will work primarily in the field conducting site observations, inspections, audits, and safety reporting. This role will collaborate closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and field personnel to identify hazards, implement corrective actions, and maintain safe work environments. The company performs significant work within federal, military, data center, and commercial construction sectors. Successful candidates with experience in these environments will have opportunities to support future projects upon completion of the current assignments.
Requirements
- OSHA 30 Certification
- OSHA 510 Certification
- EM385 Certification or ability to obtain EM385
- First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
- 3+ years of construction safety experience
- Target experience level of 3-5 years in safety roles
- Experience conducting site inspections and safety observations
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices
- Must be willing to travel throughout the Washington, DC metro area
- Must be comfortable working primarily in field environments
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Team-oriented approach to safety leadership
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience with safety management software
- Ability to work occasional night hours when required
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual Spanish is highly preferred
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections and audits
- Perform field observations and document findings
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EM385, and project-specific safety requirements
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns
- Provide safety training and toolbox talks
- Develop and maintain safety documentation and reports
- Communicate corrective actions and follow up on implementation
- Partner with project teams to proactively identify and mitigate hazards
- Support safety initiatives across multiple active projects
- Promote a positive and collaborative safety culture
