About The Position

The Salvation Army is seeking a full-time Site Director for the Red Shield Youth Center in Charlotte, NC. This role is responsible for assessing program effectiveness through data collection and analysis, training staff on data utilization, and collaborating with staff and the Manager of Program Services to maintain accurate records for compliance. The Director will partner with parents and schools to track student progress, manage database structures and reporting to align with programming goals, and complete reports for funding agencies and donors. Additionally, the role involves developing and managing the center program budget, fostering community engagement by building relationships with local organizations, increasing program visibility, and potentially transporting members and staff. Other responsibilities include leadership for special programs, consulting with parents, and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field
  • Three (3) years of proven experience in managing programs for youth, preferably in an after-school or community center setting.
  • Any equivalent combination of education/experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must be over the age of 21 to drive a center vehicle to transport youth to/from the Red Shield Youth Center and for field trips.
  • Valid State Driver’s license
  • Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses the effectiveness of center programs through data collection, analysis, and reporting to identify areas for improvement.
  • Trains and supports staff to use data and reporting to support data-based decision making at the center level and program level.
  • Collaborates with center staff and the Manager of Program Services to maintain accurate records of student progress, program attendance, and required reports to meet organizational and regulatory compliance.
  • Partners with parents & schools to track and support student progress.
  • Manages the comprehensive collection and reporting of information for programs; ensures the regular review of routine processes for data collection and reporting.
  • Structures the database(s) and reporting to align with programming goals and reporting requirements.
  • Completes the regular and as needed reporting to funding agencies and donors on program performance.
  • Develops and manages the center program budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
  • Collaborates with the program staff build relationships with local schools, libraries, colleges, and other community organizations to access additional resources and support for youth.
  • Develops collaborative partnerships with other youth serving organizations, youth, parents, families, and community organizations.
  • Increases visibility of Center programs via posting of events, announcements of upcoming events and the dissemination of timely information for the development of advertising and promotion through mailings, fliers, and media releases.
  • May be responsible for safely transporting center members and staff to or from school, activities or programs, and is responsible for the proper reporting of maintenance, cleanliness, and safety needs of the assigned vehicle.
  • May provide leadership or supervision for special programs and/or events.
  • Participates in the implementation of other activities, as necessary.
  • May consult with parents concerning youth and center issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
